Our Goals 2030

According to our understanding of sustainability, we classify our goals and measures into social, economic and environmental topics. Hereby we want to support the 17 goals of the United Nations.

(THE 17 GOALS | Sustainable Development (un.org))

All goals that increase sustainability are good. So how do you find the best ones? We surveyed all stakeholders and analysed how Hela can make the biggest contribution. Here are our key points from the analysis:

Enviroment

Waste

Industrial food production generates a lot of waste and wastewater. Be it through mistakes or unavoidable losses. We have set ourselves the goal of saving at least 50% of our waste by 2030.

Energy

Hela has introduced energy management with the Din ISO 50001 certificate. Our energy management team is continuously working on improvement. That means on the reduction or sustainable generation of energy demand. Stadwerke Lübeck helps us to control this with an energy report.

Energy consumption is directly related to the amount of CO2 produced. We have set ourselves the long-term goal of climate neutrality for the company. We follow the principle of avoidance, reduction and only what we can no longer achieve, we will compensate with environmental projects/certificates. We measure this on the basis of the company's CO2 balance. Hela will be a CO2 neutral company by 2030.

Economy

Innovation

We also pursue a holistic approach to sustainability in product development. It is imperative that new products take into account not only economic but also ecological and social aspects and support as many goals as possible at the same time. Here you will find our innovative new products.

Quality

As a food-producing company, we bear a special responsibility for the food safety and quality of our products. Our quality management system helps us to monitor the quality of our products. Furthermore, we have to deal with overproduction or non-conforming products in a sustainable way.

Social

Human rights

All our suppliers shall be certified and audited according to Hela's (Supplier Code | Hela) or official social standards (e.g. SMETA). Furthermore, Hela is committed to the Code of Conduct (Gender Note | Hela)).

As an internationally oriented family business operating in a wide variety of market segments within the food industry, we are committed to operating globally as an ethical and responsible company within our industry. We are therefore committed to acting fairly and responsibly towards our customers, our employees and our suppliers, as well as towards our environment.

Health

Our occupational health management is based on the pillars of our occupational health and safety, occupational integration management and workplace health promotion. The goal of occupational health management is to promote and maintain the health, well-being and performance of our employees. This also includes our opportunities for training and further education.
