Our Understanding of Sustainability

With the head and the heart for a better future

The family business Hela has been producing and processing spice and seasoning products nationally and internationally for four generations. This would not have been conceivable if we had not always been forward-looking and conscious in our use of resources, and if we had not done so with foresight. Openness and honesty as well as sustainable thinking in the sense of the generations that follow us is an essential part of our corporate culture. In this way, we combine economic goals with social and ecological responsibility towards people and nature.

For us, sustainability is a holistic approach. This means that we take three factors into account when evaluating our sustainable actions - environmental, economic and social. In the cycle of "thinking, acting, measuring and communicating", our sustainability management aims to continuously optimise Hela's future viability. In doing so, we are guided by the ZNU standard for sustainable action.

We do not want to engage in "greenwashing". This should be a place where interested parties can inform themselves about our actions. We take time to present this as transparently and objectively as possible. External partners and certificates help us to do this.

Corporate vision

Hela was founded over 115 years ago as a family business and will continue to be an independent family business in the future.

With our global network, we are internationally known as a reliable supplier of high-quality products in food manufacturing. In our market segments, we strive for successful business, diversification and further internationalisation. Our sustainable actions are an essential factor in guaranteeing long-term capital requirements and competitiveness.

Basic requirements

Every company has basic requirements in order to exist. These include the capital requirements of the owners and financiers, which can only be secured through sufficient competitiveness. We ensure this with our strategic planning, controlling and operational measures. External partners such as banks, our advisory board or certificates such as ISO50001 help us in this.
