For a clean future
Since 2022, we have been sourcing electricity exclusively from Swedish hydropower - a 100% renewable and certified energy source. This step underlines our commitment to climate protection and sustainably reduces our CO₂ emissions. We are continuing to invest in renewable energy by planning new photovoltaic systems. The systems with a peak output of 590 kWp will be put into operation from 2025 and will save 225 tons of CO₂ per year.
Energy efficiency through digital innovation
In addition to modernizing our buildings, we have also invested in our IT infrastructure: The use of 380 sync clients at our main site saves 83,600 watts a year. We are also focusing on extending the useful life of mobile devices in order to reduce electronic waste. These digital optimizations make a decisive contribution to reducing our energy consumption and working more sustainably.
Efficient use of resources
We were able to reduce our energy consumption by 8 gigawatt hours thanks to a comprehensive energy-efficient building refurbishment between 2005 and 2007. In addition, the waste heat from production processes, such as the hot filling of ketchup, is used efficiently to heat our halls. This integrated approach shows how innovative energy concepts can be successfully implemented.
Combined heat and power plant at the heart of the energy supply
Since 2017, we have been operating a state-of-the-art combined heat and power plant that saves up to 700 tons of CO₂ every year. This is complemented by measures to reduce gas consumption, which was cut by 15 % per bottle of ketchup produced between 2020 and 2022. With this strategy, we are strengthening our energy independence and making an active contribution to the energy transition.
Energy efficiency that works
We have made great progress in the area of production through targeted measures. In 2023, we renewed our pump station - a project that alone saves 30,000 kWh of energy per year. This not only increases the efficiency of our systems, but also makes an important contribution to achieving our sustainability goals and reducing our ecological footprint.
LED with an effect - inside and out
In 2024, we completely converted the lighting in the cold store to modern LED technology. This reduced energy consumption per operating hour by around 84 %. With around 2,500 operating hours per year, this results in a saving of 16,750 kWh. The new lighting not only improves energy efficiency, but also makes an important contribution to our sustainability goals. Another example of how we are reducing our ecological footprint with well thought-out measures.
In 2024, we also converted the street lighting to modern LED technology - another step towards energy efficiency. This reduced energy consumption by around 68 % per operating hour. With around 2,500 operating hours per year, this corresponds to a saving of 4,675 kWh per year. The measure not only improves the sustainability of our outdoor lighting, but also shows measurable positive effects shortly after implementation.
Future-oriented through photovoltaics & optimization
We are currently making targeted investments in photovoltaic systems at our site to optimize our energy mix. One of the central projects: the PV system for several of our halls. The expected savings: around 470,411 kWh of electricity per year. With a well thought-out implementation and a clear focus on efficiency and sustainability, we are making an active contribution to climate protection and strengthening our focus on a green future.
Our current measures to optimize our machinery are currently being implemented and are already showing the first positive effects. As part of a comprehensive energy-saving project, the decommissioning of an outdated system was initiated - with projected savings of 22,968 kWh per year. These steps not only help to reduce operating costs, but also noticeably improve our environmental footprint. Through careful planning, we ensure that our production processes continue to run smoothly and efficiently.
